60-Hr Course Announcement & Chemically Imbalanced
This past year has been challenging for so many on so many levels…but here we are at the end of the year and we have the opportunity to look forward rather than backwards. Many situations both domestically and internationally are in a state of flux right now and we’re choosing to be hopeful that these will all resolve favorably. Hope can be a great ally these days! In that spirit, we hope the New Year will be both kind and generous to you.

Final 2025 Events & Social Media Sign-Off

With the summer behind us here in the United States, our attention turns to the final months of the year. In this newsletter, we’ll focus on the upcoming events as well as resources such as a podcast Michael did with Samia Estrada, Psy.D. and the American Psychological Association course on Mind over Misinformation. The hypnosis community continues to be active and grow internationally. Michael provided a virtual keynote address last month at the 2nd Asian Conference in Beijing and will present a keynote address live in the UK next month. In December he’ll present live at the Evolution of Psychotherapy Conference and next week he’ll be at the virtual Anxiety & Depression Conference. Details for all these events are below. The other announcement in this newsletter is our impending departure from social media. |

Upcoming Events, Critical Thinking Resource and More

It’s been three months since our last newsletter went out announcing the release of the new 6th edition of Trancework. During this time, we’ve completed our 2025 Comprehensive 60-Hour Clinical Training and we traveled to Australia where Michael provided a keynote address for the Australian Psychological Society’s Festival of Psychology. Now, we’ve begun to slow down and settle into a slower pace of life. We may not send out a newsletter every month, but we hope you’ll continue to read and value the information we share. In this newsletter, we want to tell you about the upcoming events that Michael will participate in through the end of the year, share information about the next Hypnotic Idea Exchange (HIE) event with Dr. Shawn Criswell, and share an excellent resource from the American Psychological Association on the topic of Critical Thinking, a topic Michael has extensively addressed in his work. Early 2025 News from Yapko
|
Normally we’d begin with an enthusiastic Happy New Year!…but we live in Southern California (as we have for nearly half a century) and we are shocked by the horrific fires and devastation in Los Angeles, 120 miles north of us. The Santa Ana winds (warm winds blowing in from the deserts) are increasing again in L.A. and here, our area near San Diego, too. We have friends, colleagues, and students who live in and around the fire impacted areas and we want you to know you’re in our thoughts. 2025 may be off to a rough start (fires here, blizzards back east, volcanos erupting in Hawaii and Japan…not to mention many other challenges), but we still want to share some of the events we have coming up that may be professionally expansive and personally inspiring in March, April and May of this year. A Living Treasure and More…

Next Tuesday, is November 5, 2024 and we want to encourage all of our American readers to VOTE (if you haven’t already). The importance of voting can not be understated. Even when you think your individual vote doesn’t matter, it DOES!. Even when you may not be able to control the outcome of the election, you can control your own actions and that means voting! Your vote is your voice, please make it heard. In this newsletter, we are excited to share an amazing award that Michael received at the Society for Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis (SCEH) conference this past weekend. We also share a presentation that Michael gave on the topic of client inertia/behavioral activation at the last Hypnotic Idea Exchange (HIE) event on September 9th. We also want to remind the health care professionals that are readers of our newsletter, that Michael’s clinical hypnosis and strategic psychotherapy training course (online) has been modified for 2025 to be a 3-phase 60 hour training. Upcoming Events Happening Soon
In this newsletter we want to let you know that Michael will be the presenter at this month’s FREE Hypnotic Idea Exchange (HIE) meeting on September 9th.
As a reminder, HIE is a free resource for connecting health care professionals interested in and using hypnosis in their practice. HIE meets once a month on Mondays and is a collaborative effort of the North Carolina, North Virginia, Eastern Society, and New Jersey Component Sections of the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH).
Also, Michael will have a keynote address and workshop at the Erickson Foundation’s online conference next month on Anxiety & Depression September 14 & 15, 2024.

2025 Clinical Hypnosis Training – Registration Now Open

Over the past several months, Michael has been pondering his reply to a question many have asked him: “Will you be doing another 100-Hour Training Course in 2025?”
As many of you may know, Michael has been deliberately slowing down his schedule while trying to figure out how to balance leisure time with staying connected to the work he loves.
Michael decided that instead of having to make an “all-or-none” choice about offering the 100-hour training (or not), he would choose an in-between solution: offering a condensed 60-hour version of the course with a singular focus on applying hypnosis in the context of strategic psychotherapy.
This newsletter is dedicated to telling you about the upcoming course in 2025.
We hope you’ll consider joining us and as always, “repeaters” are welcome.
